Veterans Day

In Remembrance of those honorable and brave men and women who have served, or are serving, our Armed Forces in defense and preservation of our precious freedoms. Freedoms, I am sorry to say, that many Americans often take for granted, and with little thought or regard of those who have paid the ultimate price by shedding their own life's blood so We may enjoy such wonderful freedoms. As a Nation of people, We must always remember that "...freedom is not free". Individually and collectively, We must be continually vigilant and fight those --- whether they be a sneaky bureaucrat, an official, any person or group, or another country --- who may try to take them away.

Veterans Day, formerly Armistice Day , is a special annual holiday in the United States for Americans to give honor and thanks to all those, living and dead, who have served with the U.S. armed forces in wartime. Most states observe the holiday on November 11 and others on the fourth Monday of October. Armistice Day , the forerunner of Veterans Day, was proclaimed in 1919 to commemorate the termination (at 11 AM on November 11, 1918) of World War I. On the first anniversary of the truce, U.S. President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation eulogizing fallen Allied soldiers and referring to November 11 as Armistice Day . It became a holiday in the United States, France, Great Britain, and Canada. The holiday acquired its present name and broadened significance in the U.S. in 1954. In Canada it is known as Remembrance Day , and in Great Britain, as Remembrance Sunday .
